FAQ

What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is basically a deep state of relaxation which is half way between sleep and your nornal waking state. It is a state you allow yourself to go in, it is not one that someone can put you in against your will. Clients that have not been hypnotised before are generally surprised at just how relaxed they feel with hypnosis.

Will I be aware of whats happening?

Yes you will be conscious at all times and will know whats happening. You will not do anything against your will and you cannot get stuck in this state. Although people seem to worry about whether they wil go round like a chicken, this is not going to happen. This fear seems to come from a Stage Hypnosis show where they have seen just how powerful hypnosis is. But although we use the same deep hypnosis you will not pretend to be a chicken. Promise!

What will I hear?

You will hear my voice and be able to follow the suggestions that are given to you. I often use a background track of very soothing music to help you relax during the whole process.

What will it feel like afterwards?

You will feel relaxed and refreshed and ready for the rest of your day. If your session was concerning a forthcoming test or exam you will also be feeling very positive about it. There are no bad after effects.

Do you just use hypnosis?

One of things that makes Stortford Hypnotherapy so effective is that we use a combination of techniques, including NLP and EFT as well as hypnosis. As I use these combinations of techniques it means that many different aspects of any issues are dealt with very effectively.

What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy is the use of hypnosis to access your subconscious mind either to find out what is causing you problems or to give suggestions to it so we can replace your old behavioural patterns with the new ones that you want.
